The Short Version
We don't ask for your name, email, or any personal information to use this site. All calculations happen in your browser — we never see the numbers you enter. We do show ads through Google AdSense, which uses cookies. The rest of this page goes into the details.
What Information We Collect
Calculator inputs: Nothing. Values you type into any tool are processed entirely in your browser and are never transmitted anywhere.
Server logs: Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically logs basic technical data — IP address, browser type, the page you visited, and the date and time of the request. This is standard infrastructure logging and is not linked to any individual.
Cookies from us: None. FinanceTools does not set any first-party cookies.
Advertising & Cookies
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on this site. AdSense is a third-party advertising service operated by Google LLC. To serve relevant ads, Google uses cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie — that track your browsing activity on this site and others you've visited.
Google's advertising cookies collect information such as the pages you visit and the links you click, but they don't collect your name, address, email address, or phone number.
You have two main options for controlling this:
- Visit Google Ads Settings to opt out of personalised advertising from Google.
- Visit aboutads.info/choices to opt out of interest-based advertising from other participating networks.
For more on how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Third-Party Services
Beyond AdSense, this site uses Google Fonts (Geist Sans, Geist Mono) delivered through Next.js's font optimisation system. Google may process your IP address as part of serving these font files. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.
No other third-party scripts, analytics platforms, or tracking tools are loaded on this site.
Cookie Consent & Google Consent Mode v2
When you first visit FinanceTools from the EU, EEA, or UK, our consent banner appears and all advertising and analytics signals default to denied until you choose. We use Google Consent Mode v2, which sets four signals based on your selection: ad_storage, analytics_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization. If you reject, Google receives the denied signals and serves only non-personalised ads where required.
You can change your choice at any time via the Cookie Preferences link in the site footer.
Hosting & Infrastructure
Our site is delivered through Hostinger and may pass through Cloudflare for content delivery and bot protection. These providers process your IP address and request metadata as part of normal operation. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
Data Retention
Server access logs are kept for up to 90 days for security and debugging, then deleted. We do not maintain a user database. Advertising and analytics data processed by Google is retained per Google's own policies (Google Analytics default: 14 months). Contact emails sent to us are kept only as long as needed to resolve the conversation, then deleted.
Your Rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you are in the EU, EEA, or UK you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion
- Restrict or object to processing
- Request data portability
- Withdraw consent at any time (Cookie Preferences in the footer)
- Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (e.g. the UK ICO)
Email info@financetools.online to exercise any of these rights. We respond within 30 days.
California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and not be discriminated against for exercising those rights.
We do not sell personal information as defined by the CCPA. However, the use of third-party advertising cookies (Google AdSense) may be considered "sharing" under CPRA. To opt out, use the Cookie Preferences link in the site footer and toggle Advertising off, or email info@financetools.online with the subject "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information."
External Links
Some pages on FinanceTools link to external websites — for example, NHLBI.gov for BMI reference data. Once you leave our site, this Privacy Policy no longer applies. We recommend reading the privacy policy of any external site you visit.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through our site, please contact us and we'll handle it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this page occasionally. When we do, the "last updated" date at the top will change. We won't send notifications for minor wording changes, but if anything significant changes about how data is handled we'll make that clear. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
Contact
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, email us at info@financetools.online. We typically respond within 2 business days.
